The Art of natural beauty

DEsigning natural, beautiful hair & Makeup in Norwich

I am often contacted by brands and clients, requesting hair and makeup and one of the most common requests is ‘We want it to look natural, please!’

I have established myself as a natural hair and makeup artist over the 13+ years I have been working for myself. From the moment I went freelance, I knew that my style was always going to be different from the masses.

I was trained as a watercolourist and though I always loved hair and makeup and always dabbled in it as a young girl, it was still always natural. I loved that I could take someone’s natural beauty and enhance it without masking it. Even as the times changed, contouring became huge, heavy brows and full coverage foundations were the trend, I still stuck to my style.

I have always listened to my clients. Whether they were requiring a natural look but with fuller coverage or a barely there makeup, it was my task to create a look that fulfilled their requirements while maintaining it’s natural integrity.

I work closely with my clients, discussing their beauty goals and I’m open and honest about what the realistic outcome is.
I will always aim for a ‘less is more’ approach where appropriate but this doesn’t always mean one size fits all. Each client, brand, company have a vision and sometimes more makeup is needed to achieve that final look, but regardless of the amount of products used, the end game is ‘natural’.

The same applies to hair. I am known for my natural, relaxed style. Occasionally I am asked to create something intricate but more often than not, my style will be along the lines of a down do, with waves, a bohemian vibe, that undone, done-look!

My technique for natural makeup is assessing the skin and what the goal of the makeup is. I will always work in light layers, building up product where it is needed.

Some clients will require more coverage than others and depending on what they want and the style they are after, we will use as little or as much base coverage that makes them feel comfortable but also what is necessary. From there, eyes, cheeks and sculpting of the face is built up, especially when working with brides!

When it comes to working with brands and designers, I will take the same approach while sticking to the overall aesthetic they require.

Natural beauty is and will always be my style! I love seeing people look like themselves but naturally enhanced!
